Friends and Colleagues,
I am pleased to inform that the new Executive Council was elected into office during the annual AGM on 18 March 2009. As part of our renewal process, we have inducted and duly voted into the EXCO five new faces. I would like to welcome them on board the EXCO. They are Steve Lee, Yoke Sin, Thiam Siong, Brian Lai and Bernard Lee. I am sure they will bring in fresh ideas and contribute their service to take ITMA to another new chapter in the years ahead. I also appreciate the existing EXCO members who stayed on the mission with me. They are Kar Joo, Eugene Chang. Chin Yew, Vincent Wong, Kim Chiong, Grace Ong, Seleana Ng. And not forgetting, I would also like to thank the outgoing EXCO members who have decided to step aside due to their other personal commitments. They are Wai Yee, Linus Tham, Seok Leng, Hock Hai and Alvin Ong,
The new EXCO team is a good representation from the private and public sector CIOs and IT Heads. The new team quickly got down to business after the election to chart out the objectives, plans and programs for the year. We identify 4 goals for the year:
-
Support the development of IT management in Singapore
- Enhance ITMA branding
- Expand the membership base
- Expand organization resource
To remain relevant as a voice of the IT management to the industry, we need to plug ourselves to the development of IT management community in Singapore. We will plan to work with the regulatory bodies on the NICF framework for IT management skills development, and to explore with training institutions on the certification of IT Leaders and Managers. We will also plan to work on special interest groups on key subject matters to facilitate community bonding, experience sharing and thought leadership on the subject matters for possible action agenda.
In order to propel our ITMA forward for industry recognition of our branding, there is a need for us to stay in better engagement with other IT bodies ? professional societies, tertiary institutions, regulatory authorities, media and vendors partners. ITMA will look towards supporting, co-organising and participating in the activities of our community partners.
Our membership Exco will continue to drive and expand our memberships in liaison with events and programs promotion.
There will be exciting projects and events organized for members throughout the year, beginning with the CIO Workshop in Taipei. our flagship ITMA conference "IT Best Practices", and our professional development to engage our members with the industry sharing of experience via study visits and professional talks. Our EXCO will continue to contribute to community through charity project, financial assistance programs and prize awards with tertiary institutions. We will conclude with the Annual Gala Dinner in Jan and the AGM to round up the year next March. In between, there will be engagement projects with the local institutions and professional bodies.
Finally, I am very confident that ITMA will continue to contribute to the development of IT management in Singapore. The Association will work with our industry regulators, other professional bodies, academics, vendors and our employers to promote good practices and governance in IT management.
