Date and Time:Thursday 11 December 2008, 08:00am - 05:00pm
Place:Grand Hyatt Singapore

Dealing with uncertainty is a challenge for business and technology leaders alike. Companies in Asia today face a slowing global economy, rising costs and the ongoing financial crisis. Creating an agile business and infrastructure is essential to maintaining growth and minimizing risk.

Companies need to constantly re-evaluate business models, emerging opportunities, sustainable technologies, communications and collaboration methods, and find ways to better retain and attract top talent. Companies that excel in these areas will be the leaders in their markets and companies that fail to prepare for these shifts will be left trailing in the wake of fast-moving competitors.

The 14th Annual IT Best Practices (ITBP) Seminar, organized by the IT Management Association, is a forum that brings together C-levels, senior business and technology executives and leading IT practitioners from different business domains to share IT management best practices and leadership views.

The seminar will share some of the emerging trends, best practices and success stories in managing agile businesses in uncertain times. Topics include:

  • The changing CIO role – business or technology leader?
  • Shifting focus from maintaining IT to being a change agent and building business value
  • Balancing cost pressure, the need to grow, and coping with shifting risks and volatile business environments
  • Principles for adaptive and dynamic IT within an agile business (SOA, SaaS, virtualization)
  • Green IT – how being green will provide long term cost savings and improved perception by customers
  • The evolution in work - the new age of collaboration
