The New Game in IT: Risks & Rewards

The theme for this year’s conference is ‘The New Game in IT: Risk & Rewards’, reflecting the impact of the three technology trends on CIOs today; cloud computing, green ICT and the next-generation national broadband network.

The Singapore leg of the workshop features a case study showcase of Accenture’s enterprise-wide platform called Collaboration 2.0 by deputy CIO Kenneth Corless, an opening address by Paul Graham, CEO Asia Pacific, DHL Supply Chain, and presentations from Yap Chee Yuan, head, IT, Resorts World, and Dr Loh Yik Hin, CEO, St Andrew’s Community Hospital and Malcolm Rodrigues, General Manager, Nucleus Connect.

Other highlights of the workshop in Beijing included a visit to China’s Tsinghua University and its Future Internet Technology (FIT) Research Center and a tour of the Siemens Green Data Center. Delegates also had the opportunity to hear from a list of distinguished speakers including Chen Shao Peng, Senior Vice President, Lenovo, Goh Chye Boon, CEO, Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City and Philip Heah, Senior Director, Next Generation Infrastructure, IDA.

This year’s Workshop drew an unprecedented number of attendees with 100 delegates at the Singapore leg and more than half of them traveled to Beijing to attend the second leg.

The 23rd Chief Information Officer Workshop, jointly organized by Accenture and the Information Technology Management Association (ITMA), is an annual gathering of the most senior CIOs from large private and public organizations in the region. Considered the de facto CIO forum, many participants return year after year to benefit from the rich content and valuable networking opportunities.

Over its 23 year history, the CIO Workshop has gathered IT leaders in Singapore and the region to exchange views on the opportunities and challenges that has shaped the industry. Recent workshops in Beijing, Taiwan, Japan, Korea and Hong Kong have provided wonderful backdrops for productive dialogues on key issues impacting the business and IT landscape.

The CIO Workshop is supported by a Board of Advisors (BOA) comprising the ITMA president and other prominent IT leaders and CIOs from various industries and private or public organizations. This select group of individuals establishes the focus of the workshop, pinpoints issues to address and targets visionaries and industry leaders to speak to these subjects.
